Baher is a dentist by study and a serial entrepreneur by practice, with 13 years experience in a broad spectrum of disciplines including product & technology, sales, marketing and fundraising. Before Medicus, Baher founded CloudAppers digital agency in Dubai in 2008 with 100+ projects, from which he stepped down in 2015 to start Medicus. He also founded napkin startup studio in 2012 with $850,000 in funding, that prototyped, built and launched many products, a few of which were spun off as standalone companies. Most successful of them is Wally, a smart personal finance app that amassed 100,000 users within 2 months and become #1 finance app in 22 countries.
Chief Science Officer
Nadine is a scientist and medical researcher with 11 years of experience in genetics, genomics and immunology, and 4 years of university teaching. She holds a Ph.D. in molecular genetics from Louis Pasteur University, where she completed her studies under the supervision of Prof. Jules Hoffmann (Nobel Laureate in Medicine 2011), in Strasbourg France. She performed her post-doctoral studies at Necker Hospital, Paris, under the supervision of Prof. Alain Fischer, where she focused on immune diseases and their genetics.
Head of product
With a passion and dedication for creating stellar products, in his 16 years of experience Makram played a key role in the success of 3 startups, building and leading product teams, and creating several award-winning mobile and web apps. He has operated across all aspects of a product’s lifecycle, including strategy, planning, design, usability, development, infrastructure and more. Makram had teamed up with Baher on napkin and Wally. He is also Interactive Design and Web Programming teacher at ALBA and LAU in Beirut.
Head of Europe Operations
Verena has co-founded a health tech startup (www.anvajo.com) in Germany in 2015 and closed a 7-digit investment round for it just briefly before she has joined Medicus in March 2017, where she is responsible for all European Operations. Through her previous role as Head of Organizational Development at Stylight, a successful German e-commerce startup, she gained significant experience in growing the organization of a company from 10 to 150 employees. Verena holds a Diploma in International Business Management and is interested in behavioral psychology and general philosophy.
